Best Breakfast and Brunches in Canggu
1. Crate Cafe

Crate Cafe has long been one of our favourite brunch spots in Canggu. And we're definitely not the only ones with this opinion. Sat within an unusual industrial-chic style concrete building just off Batu Bolong, the popular cafe is always packed thanks to its cool vibe and many tasty yet affordable brunch dishes.
There's a huge brunch menu to choose from, from colourful chia and smoothie bowls to loaded toasts, brekkie burritos, and some of the biggest salads you've ever seen. Many of the dishes are unique twists on breakfast classics.
Every main dish at Crate costs just 70,000 IDR ⓘ, and the portion sizes are MASSIVE, making it one of the best value brunches in Canggu.

Crate is one of the only cafes in Canggu with a self-service concept, meaning you need to queue and order at the counter, take a number, then find your own table.
If you visit mid-morning, nabbing a table can be a bit of a challenge, especially for larger groups. You'll need to be eagle-eyed and ready to swoop in whenever a table becomes free. There are plenty of long sharing-style tables, so you may end up sitting with other people - it's a great place to make some new friends!
Emily's favourite dish: "The Melville" - halloumi, avo, and poached eggs on bruschetta toast - or "The Frenchie" - stuffed croissant with ham, mozzarella, feta, and egg. The slushie-style iced coffee and smoothies are amazing too!
Kieren's favourite dish: "Benz Eggz" - Crate's take on a classic Eggs Benedict.
2. Copenhagen

Copenhagen is another of the most popular cafes for breakfast in Canggu. The minimalistic Nordic cafe is best known for its build-your-own breakfast boards.
Pick and choose from a list of bakery items, fruits and greens, eggs, proteins, and sweet treats, to create your own smorgasbord-style brekkie. You can sample some Sandi-style dishes, including Danish rye bread, hindbærsnitter, and the cafe's famous cinnamon rolls (a must-order!).
Or go for something more traditional, like sourdough bread with a portion of smashed avocado and a bowl of delicious crispy bacon. The waffle is delicious too.
Copenhagen's original Canggu cafe (here) is small yet extremely popular, with a line out the door most mornings. Although turnaround is fairly quick. You'll usually get a table within 10-15 minutes.
3. Avocado Factory

If you love avocado as much as we do, the Avocado Factory is a must-visit! Here you'll find every type of avocado-based dish you can imagine, from the classic Avo Toast to the popular Avo Cheese Croissant and the Truffle Benedict with avocado, eggs, and truffle hollandaise. You can even try avocado smoothies and coffee.
And if you come after 11:30am, you'll also find avocado in the burgers, salads, rice bowls, pasta sauces, and even desserts (avocado cheesecake, anyone!?).

The cafe has relocated to a new and significantly larger location in central Canggu, with a modern glass facade and plenty of indoor and outdoor seating made from over 4,000kg of recycled plastic waste. All avocados are sustainably and locally sourced, while the cafe uses a rainwater collection system to conserve water.
The large new location has made Avo Factory one of the best cafes in Canggu for bigger groups, especially if you haven't pre-booked a table during busy periods.
4. Canteen

Canteen is a cool little cafe with a laid-back vibe, retro surf and skate decor, and a delicious and varied food offering.
Open daily between 7am and 4:30pm, the cafe serves an extensive all-day breakfast and brunch menu. There's every type of dish you can imagine, from smoothie bowls, overnight oats, and pancakes, to omelets, bagels, wraps, curries, and plenty more.
The cafe is popular among Canggu's surfer and expat crowd, but less known by tourists and visitors. It's a great spot for a slow, leisurely brunch with friends, without feeling like you're being rushed along to seat the next table.
Our favourite dish: We've both obsessed with the "The Honky Tonk Hashbrown" - an American-style shredded potato hash brown topped with smashed avocado, bacon, poached eggs, and tomato relish.
5. BAKED.

Now with three cafes in Canggu (Berawa, Pererenan, and Padonan), BAKED. is known for its specialty coffee, warm homemade sourdough bread, and freshly baked pastries. But we'll let you in on a secret... it also does the BEST scrambled eggs in Canggu!
I wouldn't usually order scrambled eggs in a cafe (why bother when they're so easy to make at home!?), but ever since a friend recommended BAKED.'s "Best Scramble," I can't even count how many times I've eaten this dish!
Served with creme fraiche, brown butter, chives, and roe, plus freshly baked sourdough and optional sausage, bacon, or salmon, these silky and creamy scrambled eggs are a must-try.
The small food menu also features bagels, muffins, toast, and hotcakes. Or pop by for a flaky pastry and specialty coffee to go. BAKED. is currently one of the only spots in Canggu that offers oat milk for free.
6. Kynd

Kynd Canggu is the younger sister of the iconic Seminyak brunch spot of the same name. The plant-based cafe has gained social media fame thanks to its pretty all-pink decor and customisable smoothie bowls, on which you can have your name (or anything else) written in fruit.
Kynd is open all day, with a fantastic variety of lunch and dinner options. But the cafe is best known for having the best vegan brunch in Canggu, with everything from indulgent pancakes with coconut ice cream to classic savoury breakfast dishes using tempeh bacon and vegan eggs.

We love the brunch dishes at Kynd, and you don't need to be vegan to enjoy the food here. Although the vegan egg wasn't for us, we'll stick to the real thing.
If you love the food at Kynd so much that you can't imagine ever going without it again, the cafe has several plant-based cookbooks and an online cooking school where you can learn to make many of their most popular dishes.
Emily's favourite dish: The Avo Toast with Garlic Mushrooms.
7. Gather.

We were super excited to have Gather. open just around the corner from us in Canggu, having already visited their sister cafe, Nourish., in Vietnam last year.
The cosy little brunch cafe is bright and modern with a chic, minimalist design and a fantastic morning menu, which includes everything from smoothie bowls and granola to avocado eggs and breakfast tacos.
But the star of the show has to be their brand-new build-your-own brunch boards. The sheet is guided yet flexible, letting you mix and match carbs, proteins, sides, yogurts, and fruits.
We got the double board and shared a section of dishes. We particularly loved the croissant, hash browns, and halloumi, but everything we had was delicious!
8. 7AM Bakers

If you're the kind of person who loves pastries and bread for breakfast, 7AM Bakers is a must-visit. The popular French-style cafe and bakery has one of the carb-heavy breakfast selections in Canggu, and that's why we love it!
Their counter is packed with delicious, freshly baked goods, including loaded baguettes, gourmet bagels, focaccia, quiches, sweet and savoury croissants, cookies, cakes, and more.

We're obsessed with the croissants here and always struggle to pick between the ham and cheese or pain au chocolate (so often just get both). The warm truffled brie bagel I ate on my last visit was also incredible.
You can also order from their large a la carte menu, which includes the likes of creamy velvet eggs on toast, a croissant Benedict, hot loaded muffins, and eggs en cocotte.
While 7AM has two cafes in Canggu, our favourite is the huge Pererenan branch, which has lots of cosy sofas that are perfect for a slow, leisurely brunch.
9. Brunch Club

Unlike many of the more health-conscious cafes in Canggu, Brunch Club is known for its indulgent American-style breakfast and brunch dishes. This is why it's our hungover go-to!
After a heavy night enjoying Canggu's iconic nightlife, nothing hits the spot better than Brunch Club's ginormous "big brunch breakfast" or the buttermilk waffle topped with crispy fried chicken and maple syrup (my fave!). Or if you have a sweet tooth, try the cinnamon donut French toast.

The cafe has two locations in Canggu, one in Berawa (here) and one in Pererenan (here). There's also one in Seminyak to the south.
Don't miss Brunch Club's famous 'Porn Cakes', the fluffiest and wobbliest Japanese-style soufflé pancakes you've ever seen! With plenty of different topping options, the Porn Cakes are all made fresh and can take 30+ minutes to prepare, so make sure to order as soon as you arrive.
10. Doppio

Right next door to the Body Factory Bali, one of Canggu's top gyms, Doppio is a popular hang-out spot among the area's fit, healthy, and - if we're being honest - insanely good-looking crowd.
It's not uncommon to find the Australian-inspired cafe packed with activewear-clad expats enjoying health-conscious brunch dishes.
From protein waffles and pan-fried salmon to veggie-packed soul bowls and quinoa goreng (a healthy twist on the Indonesian classic), the menu has a diverse range of nutritious options that cater to many dietary preferences and lifestyles.
Doppio must also be one of the prettiest brunch spots in Canggu, with its cute tropical decor, rattan furnishings, and pineapple centerpieces on every table. Perfect for a post-workout photoshoot.
11. Cafe Cinta

Cafe Cinta (meaning “love”) is an al fresco cafe within a spacious garden in Berawa. While many older reviews state the garden overlooks rice terraces, recent building work has unfortunately taken away this view. Although the large garden is still a peaceful spot for enjoying brunch in the sunshine.
The cafe serves a varied and creative menu of international dishes from across the world, including the likes of Syrniki Pancakes, Scandinavian Toast, Beetroot Hummus, and Baked Eggs.
Despite the array of interesting global favours, Cinta prides itself on using only locally sourced ingredients from organic farms and markets in Bali, supporting local producers in the process.
Don't miss the daily breakfast deal from 8-10am, which includes a free coffee with any breakfast order.
Emily's favourite dish: The "Baked Eggs" with potato, mushrooms, tomato, goat cheese, roasted capsicum, dukkah, naan, and shakshouka sauce.
Kieren's favourite dish: The "Beetroot Hummus" with poached eggs, avocado, pickled cabbage salsa, dukkah, goat cheese, and pita bread.
12. Gigi Susu

There's no way you'll miss Gigi Susu on Batu Bolong, with large groups of (prominently) Indonesian and East Asian tourists crowding the street trying to snap a photo at the small cafe. Honestly, we're not quite sure why it's as popular as it is, but someone once told us it was TikTok famous.
Of course, we had to give it a try to see what the hype is about, and we were pleasantly surprised that it's not just the aesthetics bringing in the crowds, but the food is fantastic too!
The iconic Canggu cafe has a small takeaway counter serving great coffee and a variety of sweet and savoury pastries, including croissants, flatbreads, twists, turnovers, brownies, and cakes.
You can also sit in their covered street-side seating area and enjoy breakfast dishes including eggs, smoothie bowls, and make your own brekkie plates.
13. Almond.

Almond. is a delightful little cafe hidden down a quiet side street in Pererenan. It's connected to The Path Yoga Center, making it a popular hangout spot among the area's local yogi crowd.
The open-air cafe is open from 7am, with breakfast available daily until 4pm. The menu features a variety of healthy twists on brunch classics, including pancakes, French toast, breakfast bagels, and shakshuka.
Many of the dishes at Almond. are vegan, including the pancakes, brekkie bowl, and nomlette. Plus most dishes here contain nutritious and antioxidant-packed almonds - so it may not be the spot for you if you have a nut allergy.
14. FOLD

Fold is a new two-story artisan bakery in Canggu by established chef Maxime Chené, who has a background in classical French cuisine and experience in Michelin-starred kitchens across Europe.
Downstairs, the spacious bakery has several counters filled with croissants, cakes, and delicious pastries. It's impossible to catch a whiff of these freshly baked treats without walking away with something.

Upstairs, you can enjoy a more laid-back brunch, with an all-day breakfast menu featuring many classic French dishes like Eggs Mouillettes, Truffle Croque Monsieur, and Berry French Toast.
Our favourite dish: The goat's cheese and tomato confit skillet with sunny side up eggs is unbelievably delicious and our go-to when eating in. You really can't go wrong with the sourdough bread or any of the tasty pastries to go!
15. Milk & Madu

Milk & Madu is another Canggu institution with two always busy locations, one on Batu Bolong (here), just a few minutes from the beach, and one in Berawa (here). The all-day restaurant is one of our absolute favourites in Bali, and somewhere you'll find us on an embarrassingly regular basis.
While it's not the cheapest spot in town, the food is consistently fantastic, from their all-day breakfasts to their famous lava stone pizzas (2-4-1 on Tues and Sun).
Milk & Madu's breakfast menu is available until 4pm and has plenty of great options. You can pick between lighter dishes like eggs your way, muesli, overnight oats, and chia bowls, or the bigger brunch specials such as the breakfast bruschetta, boss omelet, and breakfast burrito.

And if you're an early enough riser, don't miss the weekday breakfast set, which includes a breakfast dish paired with coffee and juice for only 110,000 IDR ⓘ (available 7-10am, Monday to Friday).
Both locations are large and modern, with plenty of seating for groups of all sizes. Getting a table for big groups is never an issue. You'll also find a children's play area in the gardens, a special kids' breakfast menu, and some indulgent freak-shakes, making this one of the most family-friendly brunch cafes in Canggu.
Our favourite dish: We'd both highly recommend "The Madu," the restaurant's signature breakfast dish with poached eggs, avocado, bacon, onion jam, hollandaise, and sourdough.
16. The Daun Coffee and Roastery

Daun Coffee and Roastery is a popular local cafe known for its fantastic coffee, inviting atmosphere, friendly staff, and delicious breakfast dishes.
If you're a coffee lover, The Daun is a must-visit. The coffee shop carefully sources high-quality coffee beans from across Indonesia, then expertly roasts them at their in-house roastery.
You can pair your coffee with a variety of freshly baked croissants. Or pick something more substantial from their breakfast menu, featuring the likes of eggs benedict, avocado toast, waffles, omelets, and toasties. Portions are large and prices are affordable, making it a great value brunch too!
Despite the sound of bikes whizzing past on the road outside, The Daun is a cosy and welcoming spot for a long leisurely brunch with friends or for getting some work done on your laptop over breakfast.
Our favourite dish: The tasty ham and cheese omelet is our go-to at The Daun. The huge breakfast dish comes with toasted sourdough bread, half an avocado, and a large salad.
17. Joon

A hidden gem in the very north of Batu Bolong, Joon is a charming local community spot and one of the most family-friendly brunch cafes in Canggu.
You can sit inside the spacious two-story cafe, or grab a few beanbags and enjoy your breakfast picnic-style out in the garden. Kids will love the cafe's large green space, complete with climbing frames, swings, slides, lawn toys, and a swimming pool with plenty of animal floaties.
The breakfast menu at Joon is fairly small, but the food is super affordable and delicious. Pick from a fry-up, avo toast, eggs benedict, croissant, and the more traditional nasi or mie goreng.
If you visit late morning, you can also choose from the all-day lunch/dinner menu of burgers, salads, pasta, pizzas, and main dishes.
Our favourite dish: "The Canggu Breakfast" is close enough to an English fry-up to satisfy our British taste buds, with sausage, crispy bacon, fried eggs, hash brown, sauteed mushrooms, avocado, and toast.
18. Touché

Few other Canggu cafes have nailed the picture-perfect Bali aesthetic quite like Touché has. Located in Pererenan, the small cafe's white-washed walls, soft minimalist decor, and rattan furnishings provide the perfect backdrop for your Bali photo dump on Instagram.
Plus the food isn't bad either. The super fluffy souffle pancakes are the cafe's biggest hit, seconded only by the indulgent French toast. And if it's a savoury breakfast you're craving, don't miss the extravagant truffle scrambled eggs.
19. Mimphy Grocery

Mimphy Grocery sits inside an unusual industrial-style building on a hidden Canggu back street. Graffiti-covered concrete pillars frame stunning views over the surrounding rice terraces, while a single tree grows through the middle of the building.
There's an extensive all-day breakfast menu. But you won't find any traditional (read: boring) breakfast dishes here. Instead, you can pick from many unusual and creative dishes that take flavour inspiration from across the world.
From the "Stoned in NYC" Bagel and the "Sexy Cheezy Grilled Toast," to "The Gentlemen from the Middle East" Turkish eggs and the Korean-style "JeonJu Bibimbap," there's plenty to pick from. Food prices are a little above average for Canggu, but it's more than worth it for the unique and delicious flavours!
Mimphy is also one of the more laptop-friendly cafes in Canggu and a popular hang-out spot among the area's creative expat and nomad crowd. It's not uncommon to find people working on laptops on the large central tables or sketching away on notepads on the cozy sofas.
20. Brekky

Brekky is a chic new breakfast cafe in Pererenan with a minimalist all-white design and a focus on Russian, Ukrainian, and Eastern European cuisines. Dishes range from the halloumi breakfast and salmon bowls to syrniki quark pancakes and vegan smoothie bowls.
Brekky claims to be one of the healthiest cafes in Bali, using only high-end ingredients and locally-grown vegetables. All dishes are cooked with coconut oil, and there's no MSG or palm oil to be seen. While fish and cheese are served, there are also many vegan and KETO options.
The cafe is centered around a long shared table that's laptop-friendly, making it popular among online workers. There are also plenty of smaller private tables for enjoying a leisurely brekkie.
