Red Coral Waterfall is an impressively powerful waterfall in Munduk, Northern Bali. The waterfall can be visited as a standalone hike taking just 20 minutes or as part of the Munduk Waterfall Trek.
After visiting Red Coral for ourselves, I’ve put together this handy guide with everything you need to know, from where to park to what footwear is most suitable.
Note: This guide is intended for people planning to visit Red Coral Waterfall as a standalone activity. If you are planning to visit it as part of the Munduk Waterfall Trek (a half-day hike), see this dedicated guide.
Where To Park?

The best place to park for visiting Red Coral Waterfall is at the small parking lot on the main road next to Red Land Warung, about 20m or so from the trail entrance.
Here is a Google Maps pin for the parking and trail entrance.
The parking cost is 3,000 IDR payable in cash to the attendant when you arrive.
There is plenty of room here for both scooters and cars. If this parking area does get full, you can also park at the warung (local restaurant) next door which also has a toilet.
The entrance to the hiking route sits just along the road from the car park. It's well signposted so you can't miss it!

At the entrance to Red Coral, you'll also see a sign for neighbouring Golden Valley Waterfall, which can be reached by continuing along the route. However, unless you're doing the full Munduk Waterfall Trail (more at the bottom), we'd recommend moving your bike to a different parking area and starting from the dedicated route entrance. Check out our full guide to Golden Valley Waterfall for more information.
What’s the Trail Like?

From the parking area, the path to the waterfall is 650m and takes around 20 minutes each way at a moderate pace.
The return journey is harder since it's entirely uphill. However, the incline isn’t steep and the path is mostly concrete so it’s suitable for anyone with reasonable fitness and good mobility.
If you’ve visited nearby Golden Valley Waterfall, this one is easier to reach.
You are unlikely to get lost, but if you'd prefer to have a map to follow, it's best to use the Maps.me app as this trail isn't on Google Maps. Install the appp before you go as it takes a lot of data to download.
The path down to the waterfall is well-maintained so you don’t need specific hiking boots. Emily and I both wore flip flops and this wasn't a problem.

What To Expect

Red Coral Waterfall is a tall single-drop waterfall with a narrow, but powerful stream of water where the river flows over the rockface, tucked away in a small enclave amongst the jungles of Munduk.
As of 2024, the entrance fee for Red Coral Waterfall is now 45,000 IDR for adults (discounted for children).
There is a card machine, although we'd recommend taking cash for these types of attractions as technology isn't always reliable in remote areas.
The splash pool at the base of the waterfall is very shallow and rocky so it’s not suitable for swimming. You can dip your feet in and even go under the waterfall to cool down - if you can withstand its power.
There are a couple of toilets along the route and small stalls selling water.
The Munduk Waterfall Trek
Red Coral is the second-most easterly waterfall on the Munduk Waterfall Trek, a half-day hike which takes you between Munduk’s four main waterfalls.
Red Coral sits between Golden Valley Waterfall at the eastern end of the hike and Labuhan Kebo and Melanting in the other direction. So it’s either the second or third waterfall depending upon which direction you go.
