Anyone who knows me knows that pizza is my favourite food. And not just any pizza. After living in Italy in 2021, I developed rather high standards. Most of the pizza I've tried while travelling in Asia has been disappointing, so I just stopped bothering. Then I arrived in Bali, specifically Canggu.
With so many foreign expats and international visitors, Canggu's restaurants are a melting pot of different cultures and cuisines. It's easy to find amazing food from all around the world, including plenty of fantastic pizza!
Whether you're craving authentic Neopolitan pizza or indulgent New York style slices, there's no shortage of delicious pizza in Canggu. And after trying pretty much all of them over the last couple of years (some multiple times... for research!), I've finally put together a list of the best of the best.
Arte Canggu
Best for: a sophisticated night of Neopolitan-style pizza, modern art, and jazz!

Arte Canggu is a stylish spot close to Pererenan Beach that's part Italian eatery and part contemporary art space. But most importantly, it's where you'll find our favourite pizza in all of Canggu.
The restaurant's wood-fired Neapolitan-style pizzas are truly unrivalled. Light, soft dough, pillowy crusts, and fresh, high-quality toppings... what's not to love!? They're as authentic and delicious as they come. Even our Italian friends (from Naples, may we add) agreed!
The pizza menu at ARTE is inspired by different regions of Italy. Our go-to is the Pugliese pizza, topped with gooey stracciatella cheese, fresh tomatoes, and basil, but there are plenty of meat and veggie options to choose from.
Plus, it's not just the fantastic food that makes Arte one of our favourite pizza restaurants in Canggu. It's the cool vibe too.
The restaurant is home to a contemporary art gallery, with all profits going to local artists and charities, and a small library anyone can borrow books from. There's also live jazz every Wednesday evening, but you should book in advance as this is super popular.
Fucina
Best for: an authentic all-round Italian dining experience.

Fucina is an elegant Italian restaurant in Berawa with a homely atmosphere, friendly staff, and unbelievable artisanal wood-fired pizzas that will transport you straight to Italy in just one bite.
Their aged sourdough crust strikes the perfect balance of crispy and chewy, topped with fresh, locally sourced ingredients and imported Italian cheese. We tried their new pumpkin cream and vegetable pizza, which was fantastic, but you can't go wrong with their classics either.
During our visit, we were greeted by the lovely Italian owner, who treated us to plenty of limoncello while sharing the story of how he opened his first restaurant in Bali over 20 years ago and continues to strive for the best Italian food in town.
The restaurant is also known for its live jazz nights every Tuesday and Saturday, attracting some of the top jazz artists in Bali and Indonesia. Perfect pizzas, Italian wines, and soulful jazz - is there anything better?

Cantina Bali Canggu
Best for: a casual and delicious pizza date night.

Despite being somewhat of a hidden gem on the Canggu food scene, Milanese-owned Italian restaurant Cantina is where you'll find some of the most authentic modern Italian cuisine in the area.
From the indulgent charcuterie boards to Nonna's homemade meatballs and the best pumpkin ravioli I've ever eaten, we're yet to try a single dish at Cantina that isn't phenomenal. But it's their Neopolitan-style pizzas that steal the show!
Their small wood-fired pizza menu features all the classics - Margarita, Parma, Quattro Formaggi, Divola, etc - and a few more creative options, including a spicy Mumbai chicken and smokey Spanish chorizo.
The restaurant has a cool yet casual atmosphere, with a stylish modern interior and lovely outdoor terrace overlooking the neighbouring rice terrace. Perfect for a romantic date night or dinner with friends.
Milk & Madu
Best for: great value pizza deals and fun family dinners.

While not an Italian restaurant, Milk & Madu is still one of our go-to places for pizza in Canggu for two main reasons.
The first is their creative range of gourmet wood oven pizzas. The Summer Slice is our favourite (I can't even count how many times we've eaten it!), topped with a whole fresh burrata, pesto, tomatoes, and zucchini, while the Pumpkin Pie with pumpkin, ricotta, and pesto isn't far behind.
The second reason is their famous 2-for-1 pizza deal every Tuesday and Sunday, which makes it fantastic value for money!
Milk & Madu is a popular neighbourhood spot with two branches in Canggu; one on Batu Bolong close to the beach, and one in Berawa. Both have large gardens with kids' play areas, board games, and regular live music. In our experience, the pizzas are better at the Batu Bolong Beach Road restaurant.
La Baracca
Best for: a casual pizza get-together with friends.

La Baracca is one of Bali's best-known Italian restaurants, with branches in Canggu, Seminyak, Ubud, and Uluwatu. Specialising in authentic comfort cuisine, you can't go wrong with their huge range of delicious wood-fired pizzas.
Choose between a classic pizza base, a light and crispy La Romana base, or a gluten-free base. The Pizza Burratta is a top-seller, while my favorite has to be the Morty, with mixed Italian cheese, mortadella, and crushed pistachios.
Their Canggu restaurant has a fun rustic look, with mismatched furnishings, walls covered in grafitti, and an eclectic collection of random nick-nacks. On the second floor, there are some larger tables, making it a great option for big groups.
For the best value for money, head to La Baracca on a Tuesday for their pizza party, when selected gourmet pizzas (like the Burratta) are just 115,000 IDR.
Pizza Fabbrica
Best for: thin, light pizzas and southern Italian specialties.

Owned by Puglia-born Luigi, whose family also started Pronto Pizza in Kuta, Pizza Fabbrica is another firm Canggu favourite for pizza lovers.
Their dough undergoes a unique maturation process, resulting in a thin, light, and slightly crispy base that perfectly complements the flavourful toppings. Using premium Italian tomato sauce and imported Italian cheese, authenticity is key at Fabbrica.
Their Capricciosa is among the best in town, while their signature Fabbrica pizza, with creamy molton Burrata and real Prosciutto Crudo Di Parma, is a must-try.
Plus don't miss the traditional panzerotti (filled fried pizza dough) and their homemade Barese focaccia bread - Puglian specialties that you won't find anywhere else in Canggu (or not this good at least)!
Luigi's Hot Pizza
Best for: tasty meter-long sharing pizzas and wild late-night parties.

Renowned for its legendary Monday night parties, Luigi’s Hot Pizza isn't just about fantastic cocktails and dynamic DJs; it's also where you'll find some of the tastiest pizzas in Canggu.
Though modest in size, the menu delivers big flavor with its selection of classic Neapolitan-style wood-fired pizzas, featuring favorites like Margarita, Siciliana, Pepperoni, and Capricciosa.
Luigi's is most famous for its meter-long sharing pizzas which you can share with friends at the large picnic-style tables, before knocking back a few Negronis and partying the night away.
Tony's New York Pizza
Best for: authentic New York style pizza slices.
View this post on Instagram A post shared by TONY'S NEW YORK PIZZA (@tonysnewyorkpizza)
If it's big, cheesy New York style pizza slices you're after, Tony's NY Pizza is the place to go. Most people come for takeout, but there are a few tables to eat in too.
Designed to be a nostalgic, no-frills, neighborhood pizzeria you'd find in the US, Tony's serves huge pizza slices on simple paper plates, as well as whole pizza pies.
The pizza dough is thin and crispy but still soft enough to fold, with a generous serving of tasty toppings. Favours include the classic NY pepperoni, spicy salami and jalapeno, buffalo chicken, truffle mushroom, and plenty more. And don't forget to pick up a pot of their homemade hot honey, ranch, or roasted garlic dip.
Their main Canggu pizzeria is located in deep Pererenan, but you'll often find their portable pizza stand close to the beach at Batu Bolong most evenings until late. There's no better end-of-the-night treat than a slice of Tonys!
