The Best Tacos in Canggu [+ Top Taco Tuesdays Deals]

No matter where you are in the world, nothing beats Taco Tuesday! Tacos are one of Kieren’s and my all-time favorite foods, so naturally, we had to hunt down the best tacos in Canggu to get our fix.

After eating our way through Canggu's taco scene, we've narrowed down the best of the best, from authentic Mexican flavors to creative fusion bites.

Plus, we’ve also included any Taco Tuesday deals for each restaurant. We'll be updating this as often as we can but make sure to double-check any available deals when you visit.

Lacalita Bar y Cocina

Located on central Batu Bolong, close to the beach, Lacalita has always been our favourite Mexican restaurant in Canggu and our go-to whenever we need a taco fix.

The cool modern spot serves creative takes on authentic Mexican dishes, from ceviche and frijoles to flavourful loaded corn tacos. The taco menu is simple yet delicious, featuring the likes of al pastor and adobo-braised jackfruit.

Lacalita also has a fantastic range of tequilas, mezcals, and Mexican cocktails to enjoy with your meal. With tables of all sizes, it's perfect for a romantic date night or dinner with friends.

The Common

The Common is a laid-back Cali/Mex restaurant on Batu Bolong with a fantastic selection of fresh, flavourful, and (mostly) healthy dishes, including some of the absolute best tacos in Canggu.

Their homemade flour tortilla tacos come with a small variety of fillings, from baja fish to lamb barbacoa. Both mine and Kieren's favourite has to be the spicy chorizo taco with crispy potatoes, chipotle, and feta.

If you're extra hungry, grab a huge sharing skillet of nachos for the table. And complete your meal with a refreshing margarita - only ⓘ from 5-7pm.

Lolas Cantina Mexicana

Lola's Cantina offers a vibrant Mexican dining experience in Canggu where you can expect cacti, sombreros, and plenty of tequila. In the evening, the atmosphere is loud, lively, and perfect for a fun night of tacos, margaritas, and music with friends.

Their newly revamped taco menu has something for everyone, from soft corn tortillas to oven-baked hard shells, and crispy, cheese-filled birria tacos. They also have a wide variety of fillings, including vegetarian, chicken, pork, steak, and seafood options, making it one of the most diverse taco selections in Canggu.

Lupine Mexican Bistro

Lupine is a cool new neighbourhood Mexican bistro serving inventive takes on authentic Mexican cuisine. With its colorful decor, playful "alebrijes", and warm, welcoming atmosphere, this restaurant feels like a real slice of Oaxaca in Bali.

The menu at Lupine is short but sweet, with a focus on the creative taco selection. There are 8 main taco options to pick from, including inventive flavours like LA-style steak, fish katsu, and cajun shrimp. Plus don't forget to try their tasty homemade guacamole and corn chips.

Deus Ex Machina

Deus Ex Machina is a unique Canggu spot that combines a custom bike and clothing store with a large on-site restaurant and bar. The restaurant has a cool, laid-back atmosphere and regular evening events, from comedy to live music.

While not known for their tacos, we can safely say that these were some of the tastiest and most authentic Mexican street food style tacos we've tried in Bali, packed with plenty of delicious flavours.

Jalapeno Canggu

Jalapeno is a popular Tex-Mex restaurant in Canggu's Berawa neighbourhood serving a variety of tacos, burritos, salads, and bowls.

Starting with your choice of flour or corn tortilla, you can pick from Jalapeno's range of classic tacos, including chicken adobo and carne asada. There's also an ever-changing creative monthly specials menu, which has featured everything from soft shell crab to baked eggplant in the past.

Throughout the year, the restaurant sometimes has taqueria takeovers and taco specials inspired by local Indonesian flavours, with unique fillings like beef rendang, Balinese pork, and bbq tempeh. A must-try if you time it right!

Taco Island

Taco Island is a casual street-food-style taco joint with a handful of tables at their small side-of-the-road eatery in central Canggu.

This unsuspecting little spot is where you'll find the best crispy birra-style tacos in Canggu, filled with succulent slow-cooked beef and melted cheese, and dipped in a spicy birra sauce. Super indulgent and super delicious! There's also a jackfruit version for vegetarians.

Unlike other taco restaurants in Canggu, you can't order these by the taco. Instead, you can order a set meal with 2 or 3 tacos and a side of Mexican rice and salsa, starting at 110,000 IDR ⓘ per dish.
